learned info from tattoo paper

I have been doing a paper on Broad Street Tattoo in Bridgewater,MA. This paper was mainly focused on finding out why people get tattoos wither it be for a symbol of something, cause you like the art or you just want to get because it "cool".  While doing this paper I realized almost immediately that probably 60% of people get tattoos cause they are cool or in fashion. But that is for now, through history the majority of people have into tattoos for a symbol. Who knows maybe in the future people will get them for a different reason all together. it will be interesting to find out where the art of tattooing takes off to next.

tilly experience

Old girls dorm is now turned into teachers offices and in the back is a newer addition. In the back is were is spend allot of my week day afternoons. There i just wait for my next class to start. This place is the Tilly dining hall, guarded by the woman in the front desk. At the front desk there is a computer that the lady uses to take your meal swipes so you can have entrance into this dining hall. Today there happens to be a contest to see who can guess how much candy is in the candy jar. Just to amuse her I right my name and phone number then how much I guessed was in there. I doubt I will. Then I go take my big red leather (probably pleather) seat in the corner of the room where i always sit. I drop off my stuff then go get my boiled eggs and cherry tomatoes in a bowl. I usually try to ignore the whole buffet style set up on the opposite side of the room because i am trying to eat healthier and the food over the is usually fried. From there i walk around the huge clusters of red and grey tables to get to the drink machine. I go right past the soda machines and go straight for the crystal light dispenser. Today the don't have my favorite red crystal light so i settle for the lemonade. Then i walk back around the huge cluster of tables dodging a group of people and almost walking into one of the many big white poles thanks to the is one girl texting and walking. Which i was thought the next wonderful thing are government would do is band texting and walking. Now I seat, eat my food, and people watch. The first thing i notice is a kid walking in with a muscle shirt on,sunglasses(inside) and two diamond earrings. Its 34ish degrees out there is barely sun outside and the government should make diamond earrings e legal for guys but anyway. I continue to watch how many people go straight for the fried delicious chicken the slide there way down to the burgers and french fries and then onto the pizza. walking away with as much of that as they can fit on there plates then going to get there soda. On my side of the room i watch as people make there orders for there favorite type of sandwich. while in line these girls laugh with each other. Using my expert detective skills i come to the conclusion they must be friends. Then i  also notice a random kid just standing in line with look of i gunna kill everyone in this room as he starred at the girls laughing with each other. I made a mental note to watch him for my safety and to see what else he does. I break out the laptop and do homework because its around that time where it get completely empty and theres no one to watch. After about 30 min I hear the big crowd starting to stream in which is my Q to leave or ill be late for my next class. I pack up my things walk Through mass of assorted people forming at the door waiting for the door guardian to take there meal plans. I wave good by to the door guardian so next time i come in she will remember i was one of the nice ones.

2/10- reading response

In the research paper Slide, Roll, Slam by Nicole Williams the writer goes into very vivid detail. I enjoyed how nicole aromatically started with imagery, for example the sounds of the bowling alley while in action. Then Nicole continued with describing all the people she saw with great detail. When she first got in the Nicole starting describing carol at the front desk so you could Imagen the person yourself. Nicole doesn't stop there with the imagery she continues to describe the group of guys she was sitting behind and observing. Hank was one of the first people she talked too. He is the owner of the bowling the manager of the bowling. based of what she has written and stated frank was a very monotoned person that didn't give off a friendly vibe. I thought it was clever how Nicole stopped watching the bowlers and took a walk. Her vivid description of her little adventure to the "vacant" side of the bowling alley was very interesting. She informs us of a little concession stand and a arcade room she wouldn't have noticed if a kid wasn't there playing what seemed to be pin ball. I believe that this research was really pulled together with all the imagery.

Questions

I have alot if question about this tattoo parlor. Like how it got started, The history behind it. I would like to learn more about the tattoo artists themselves and way they picked up this art form. I would also like to interview some of the customers to better understand why people go and get tattoos. The main thing i want to find out from my research is do people get tattoos for a personal meaning or do must people just get them because they look cool.

my research place

The place I picked to do my research is a tattoo parlor on broad street. This place called Broad street tattoo. Broad street tattoo has four very talented artist. This tattoo parlor is located right next to the college campus so it will be easy to access for my research. A place like this is where people get something that is symbolic and special to that person. Its some thing they wanna keep and remember forever. But on the other had there are those people that get tattoos cause its "cool" a great example of this is a pink cow on your foot. It will be extremely interesting to get both sides of the tattoo world.
